Newtown State School has proudly supported the learning needs of students and their families for almost 100 years. We value the many links that have established within our school and the local community and will continue to cultivate these relationships by:
aiming to develop positive relationships with parents and carers that are based on mutual respect
working closely with our neighbouring schools and those in our local cluster
maintaining a positive presence within the school neighbourhood by encouraging our students to be respectful when moving about the community
developing relationships with local businesses, health and wellbeing service providers and community groups
linking with our regional council and members of parliament for support
Ways to be involved
Newtown State School has a strong culture of parent involvement. There are many and varied opportunities to become involved in the life of our school and we welcome your participation. Some of those opportunities include:
being involved in the activities of the Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
helping at the Tuckshop
helping in the Uniform Shop
helping in the library
classroom assistance, e.g. supporting students with their reading development, assisting with art classes, helping with general learning activities
being a transport provider to sport and music events

assisting on food stalls at school related events
being a P&C representative on a number of school committees
All of these activities are a great way to meet people. There is also considerable scope for parents to use their work related and professional skills, such as:
