Computers first appeared at Newtown State School in the eighties when Commodore VIC 20's were bought. These computers were used to familiarise the children with computers and to introduce them to keyboarding.

Curriculum computers were purchased at the end of 1989. Since then there have been many changes. Today we have 80 plus computers set up in the school environment. Two labs have been set up for whole class use. Internet access is an everyday occurrence. Students access various programs on the internet to enhance their education. All students have their own user name and passwords.

Every classroom has interactive projectors for teachers to access. This makes teaching and learning enjoyable. Every classroom has internet access, so students can log on anywhere in the school classrooms and browse the internet.
